So What is Refund Protect?

Refund Protect allows guests to upgrade their booking with enhanced refund terms, both partial deposits and full payment are covered. This option covers the guest's deposit or full payment should your guest be unable to attend their booking due to an emergency and they want to cancel their booking. (like illness, injury, severe weather, or family crisis etc…), Refund Protect handles the entire refund process directly with the guest — no emails, no phone calls, no headaches for you. 


What’s in it for you?  You can cancel these bookings, knowing your business gets to keep 100% of your booking revenue, and your guest gets peace of mind because Refund Protect will refund their deposit or full payment within hours!


Note: No staff errors, any bookings in your system where the guest has paid for Refund Protect are easily identified as NOT REFUNDABLE by your business.

  • What is Refund Protect and how does it work?

    Refund Protect lets guests upgrade their booking with enhanced refund terms. If the guest can’t attend due to a covered emergency, Protect Group assesses and issues a refund directly to them within hours. There is nothing for the business to do (other than cancel the booking and keep the deposit/payment..

  • What emergencies are covered?

    Extreme weather, Illness (including COVID), injury, pregnancy complications, transport failures, family emergencies, theft of documents, redundancy, and more.

  • Does this replace travel insurance?

    No. Refund Protect is not travel insurance - it simply offers a refund if guests can’t attend due to unforeseen circumstances. It complements travel insurance rather than replacing it.

  • Will I have to handle refunds?

    No. Protect Group handles the entire refund request and customer service process.

  • Do I lose any booking revenue if a guest gets refunded?

    Not at all. You keep 100% of the original booking amount.

  • Do I gain any Revenue?

    Yes, DigitalRez shares 10% of the Refund Protect fee with you, paid monthly in arrears.  

  • Is there a cost to my business?

    No. Guests pay a small fee at checkout if they choose to add Refund Protect (it’s the customer choice).

  • Is it legit?

    Absolutely. Protect Group works globally and is backed by A-rated insurance underwriters including Lloyds of London and Marsh.

  • Can I turn it off?

    Yes. If you'd prefer not to offer it, simply contact us to opt out.
